Erste Kreuzfahrtschiffs-Taufe 2024

Am 4. Januar 2024 hat die TV-Köchin und Gastronomin Nina Compton das jüngste und modernste Schiff der Silverseas-Flotte offiziell auf den Namen SILVER NOVA getauft.

Es war ein emotionaler Auftakt der Zeremonie, als Dudelsäcke – eine übliche Tradition der Royal Caribbean Group – triumphierend im Theater der SILVER NOVA erklangen. Es folgte eine emotionale Aufführung der US-Nationalhymne von Rachel York sowie eine exklusive Vorführung eines Gedenkvideos zu Ehren des 30-jährigen Jubiläums von Silversea, welches in diesem Jahr begangen wird. Dann segnete Reverend Sanford Sears und Rabbi Adam Watstein die SILVER NOVA. Barbara Muckermann, Präsidentin von Silversea, und Jason Liberty, Präsident und CEO der Royal Caribbean Group hielten ihre Ansprachen und gaben dann die Taufpatin des Schiffes bekannt: die gefeierte Köchin, Gastronomin und Fernsehpersönlichkeit Nina Compton. Zum Abschluss der Zeremonie taufte Compton – begleitet von Kapitän Cosimo Pontillo – offiziell die SILVER NOVA und ließ eine Magnum-Flasche Champagner auf dem Schiffsrumpf zerschmettern, bevor Jason Liberty die Gäste zu einem Trinkspruch zur Feier des bedeutsamen Ereignisses anführte.

Nina Compton wurde in St. Lucia geboren, lebt in New Orleans und wurde am Culinary Institute of America ausgebildet. Sie ist eine preisgekrönte Köchin, Gastronomin und TV-Persönlichkeit. Als Besitzerin von zwei Restaurants in New Orleans ist Compton eine leidenschaftliche Verfechterin der karibischen Küche und wurde zur kulinarischen Botschafterin ihres Heimatlandes St. Lucia ernannt, wo ihr Vater als erster Premierminister des Inselstaates fungierte.

First Cruise Ship Christening in 2024

On January 4, 2024, TV chef and restaurateur Nina Compton officially named the youngest and most modern ship in the Silverseas fleet with the name SILVER NOVA.

It was an emotional start to the ceremony as bagpipes – a Royal Caribbean Group tradition – sounded triumphantly in the SILVER NOVA’s theater. This was followed by an emotional performance of the US national anthem by Rachel York and an exclusive screening of a commemorative video in honor of Silversea’s 30th anniversary, which is celebrated this year. Then Reverend Sanford Sears and Rabbi Adam Watstein blessed the SILVER NOVA. Barbara Muckermann, President of Silversea, and Jason Liberty, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, gave their speeches and then announced the ship’s godmother: celebrated chef, restaurateur and television personality Nina Compton. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Compton – accompanied by Captain Cosimo Pontillo – officially christened the SILVER NOVA and smashed a magnum bottle of champagne on the ship’s hull.

Nina Compton was born in St. Lucia, lives in New Orleans and was trained at the Culinary Institute of America. She is an award-winning chef, restaurateur and TV personality. The owner of two restaurants in New Orleans, Compton is a passionate advocate of Caribbean cuisine and has been named culinary ambassador to her home country of St. Lucia, where her father served as the island nation’s first prime minister.

Taufe in Triest

Am 19. Juli 2023 hat die Meyer-Werft, Papenburg, die SILVER NOVA an Silversea Cruises übergeben. Die Übergabe-Zeremonie fand im niederländischen Eemshaven statt.

Die SILVER NOVA (IMO 9886213) ist das zwölfte Schiff und erste mit LNG betriebene Schiff der Silversea-Flotte.

Die Taufe des neuen Cruise Liners soll am 12. August im italienischen Triest gefeiert werden. Anschließend soll am 14. August die Jungfernfahrt in Venedig beginnen. Die Reise führt nach Piran, Zadar, Dubrovnik, Kotor, Split sowie Rovinj und endet wieder in Venedig.

Naming Ceremony in Trieste

On July 19, 2023, Meyer Shipyard, Papenburg, Germany, handed over the SILVER NOVA to Silversea Cruises. The handover ceremony took place in Eemshaven, The Netherlands.

The SILVER NOVA (IMO 9886213) is the twelfth ship and first LNG-powered ship in the Silversea fleet.

The christening of the new cruise liner is to be celebrated on August 12 in Trieste, Italy. The maiden voyage in Venice is then scheduled to begin on August 14th. The journey leads to Piran, Zadar, Dubrovnik, Kotor, Split and Rovinj and ends back in Venice.

Silversea Cruises und die Meyer-Werft feierten am 23. März 2023 die Kiellegung der SILVER RAY, des zweiten Schiffs der Nova-Klasse. Traditionsgemäß wurden Gedenkmünzen unter dem ersten Baublock platziert, was dem Schiff Glück bringen soll.

Der Zeremonie wohnten Barbara Muckermann, President + CEO von Silversea Cruises, sowie Jan Meyer, Managing Director der Meyer-Werft, bei. Die Feier fand neben der noch in Bau befindlichen SILVER NOVA (IMO 9886213) statt.

Die SILVER RAY soll bis 2024 fertiggestellt werden. Mit der Nova-Klasse wollen die Werft und Silversea Cruises neue Standards auf dem Weg zum Null-Emissions-Kreuzfahrtschiff setzen.

Keel Laying and Coin Ceremony for SILVER DREAM

On March 23, 2023, Silversea Cruises and Meyer-Werft celebrated the keel-laying of SILVER RAY, the second Nova class ship. Traditionally, commemorative coins were placed under the first building block to bring luck to the ship.

The ceremony was attended by Barbara Muckermann, President + CEO of Silversea Cruises, and Jan Meyer, Managing Director of Meyer Werft. The celebration took place next to the SILVER NOVA (IMO 9886213), which is still under construction.

The SILVER RAY is scheduled to be completed by 2024. With the Nova class, the shipyard and Silversea Cruises want to set new standards on the way to  zero-emission cruise ships.

SILVER RAY Steel Cutting

Bei Silversea Cruises scheint man gerade aus dem Feiern nicht herauszukommen. Hatte man in diesem Jahr bereits drei Schiffstaufen gefeiert, nämlich die der SILVER ORIGIN, SILVER DAWN und erst kürzlich der SILVER ENDEAVOUR, wurde am 23. November das nächste Event gefeiert. Auf der Meyer-Werft in Papenburg fand die traditionelle Zeremonie zum ersten Stahlschnitt der SILVER RAY, dem zweiten Schiff der Evolution-Klasse, statt.

Die SILVER RAY (IMO 9886225) wird ein Schwesterschiff der bereits in Bau befindlichen SILVER NOVA. Diese wird voraussichtlich im Sommer 2023 abgeliefert. Die SILVER RAY soll dann im Sommer 2024 folgen.

Beide Schiffe setzen laut Werft-Angaben mit einer Vielzahl von Innovationen neue Maßstäbe für Umweltschutz und Luxus-Kreuzfahrt. Sie werden demnach mit Abstand die nachhaltigsten ihrer Klasse sein. Dank eines innovativen Treibstoffkonzepts mit emissionsarmem LNG, einem Brennstoffzellensystem für den gesamten Hotelbetrieb sowie Batterien verfüge das neue Schiff über die bestmöglichen Maßnahmen, um Emissionen zu reduzieren.

Party atmosphere at Silversea – SILVER RAY Steel Cutting

At Silversea Cruises, the celebrations seem to be inescapable. After three ship christenings had already been celebrated this year, namely the SILVER ORIGIN, SILVER DAWN and most recently the SILVER ENDEAVOR, the next event was celebrated on November 23rd. The traditional ceremony for the first steel cutting of the SILVER RAY, the second ship of the Evolution class, took place at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg.

The SILVER RAY will be a sister ship to the SILVER NOVA, which is already under construction. The latter is expected to be delivered in the summer of 2023. The SILVER RAY should then follow in the summer of 2024.

According to the shipyard, both ships set new standards for environmental protection and luxury cruising with a large number of innovations. They will therefore be by far the most sustainable in their class. Thanks to an innovative fuel concept with low-emission LNG, a fuel cell system for all hotel operations and batteries, the new ship had the best possible measures to reduce emissions.

Zweite Karriere für den in Stralsund gebauten Cruise Liner

Die SILVER ENDEAVOUR,  2021 als CRYSTAL ENDEAVOR bei den MV-Werften in Stralsund fertig gestellt und 2022 durch Silversea Cruises übernommen, wurde am 19. November 2022 in der Antarktis auf ihren neuen Namen getauft.

Silversea Cruises veranstalteten im Lemaire-Kanal in der Antarktis eine Feier im Expeditionsstil, um ihre SILVER ENDEAVOR als elftes Schiff ihrer Flotte zu taufen. Führungskräfte von Silversea Cruises, die Taufpatin des Schiffes, Felicity Aston, Member of the Order of the British Empire, sowie ausgewählte Mitglieder der Großfamilie der Reederei waren anwesend, als eine aus Eis geformte Champagner-Magnum-Flasche gegen den Rumpf der SILVER ENDEAVOUR schlug, um die dritte Namensgebung bei Silversea Cruises innerhalb von nur neun Monaten zu feiern.

Segens-Zeremonie in Puerto William

Die Feierlichkeiten begannen mit einer intimen Segnungszeremonie, die am 15. November im Kap-Horn-Subantarktiszentrum in Puerto Williams stattfand. Lokale Würdenträger aus Puerto Williams nahmen an den Feierlichkeiten teil. Nach der üblichen Dudelsackaufführung der Royal Caribbean Group wurde die chilenische und die amerikanische Nationalhymne gesungen, und Felicity Aston wurde offiziell als Taufpatin des Schiffes vorgestellt. Jason Liberty, Präsident und CEO der Royal Caribbean Group, und Roberto Martinoli, Präsident und CEO von Silversea Cruises, die nicht persönlich teilnehmen konnten, schickten eine Videobotschaft, um der Community, der Crew und allen Mitarbeitern, die an diesem Meilenstein beteiligt waren, zu danken. Barbara Muckermann – Chief Commercial Officer von Silversea – und Felicity Aston sprachen  zu den Teilnehmern.

Erste Tauffeier im Lemaire-Kanal

Am Samstag, dem 19. November, wurde die SILVER ENDEAVOUR als erstes Schiff überhaupt im Lemaire-Kanal getauft – einer der malerischsten Meerengen des Kontinents vor der Antarktischen Halbinsel. Gemäß maritimer Tradition segnete Felicity Aston segnete das Schiff und wünschte ihm Glück, indem sie neben Kapitän Niklas Peterstam auf einem der Außendecks des Schiffes ein Band durchtrennte, um eine eisgeformte Flasche in Magnum-Größe auszulösen, die gegen den Rumpf geschmettert wurde. Die Tauf-Gäste erlebten den historischen Moment außerhalb des Schiffs auf Zodiacs auf dem 11 km langen, von Klippen gesäumten Gewässer sitzend. „Champagner auf Eis“ bekam eine ganz neue Bedeutung, als die Gäste ihre Gläser erhoben, um auf die Taufe anzustoßen.

The SILVER ENDEAVOUR, completed in Stralsund, Gemany, in 2021 as CRYSTAL ENDEAVOR and taken over by Silversea Cruises in 2022, was christened on November 19, 2022 in Antarctica.

Silversea Cruises held an expedition-style celebration in Antarctica’s Lemaire Channel to christen their SILVER ENDEAVOUR, the eleventh ship in their fleet. Silversea Cruises executives, the ship’s godmother, Felicity Aston, Member of the Order of the British Empire, and select members of the cruise line’s extended family were present when an ice-molded champagne magnum slammed into the hull of the SILVER ENDEAVOUR, to celebrate Silversea Cruises‘ third naming ceremony in just nine months.

Blessing Ceremony in Puerto William

The celebrations began with an intimate blessing ceremony held on November 15 at the Cape Horn Sub-Antarctic Center in Puerto Williams. Local dignitaries from Puerto Williams attended the celebrations. After the usual Royal Caribbean Group bagpipe performance, the Chilean and American national anthems were sung, and Felicity Aston was officially introduced as the ship’s godmother. Jason Liberty, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, and Roberto Martinoli, President and CEO of Silversea Cruises, who were unable to attend in person, sent a video message to thank the community, crew and all employees involved in this milestone to thank. Barbara Muckermann – Silversea’s Chief Commercial Officer – and Felicity Aston addressed the audience.

First christening ceremony in the Lemaire Canal

On Saturday, November 19, SILVER ENDEAVOR became the first ship ever to be christened in the Lemaire Channel – one of the continent’s most scenic straits off the Antarctic Peninsula. In keeping with maritime tradition, Felicity Aston blessed the ship and wished her luck by cutting a ribbon alongside Captain Niklas Peterstam on one of the ship’s outer decks to release a magnum-sized ice-shaped bottle, which was smashed against the hull. The christening guests witnessed the historic moment off the ship, perched on Zodiacs on the 11km long cliff-lined body of water. „Champagne on the rocks“ took on a whole new meaning as guests raised their glasses to toast the christening.

Nun offiziell: Silversea übernimmt CRYSTAL ENDEAVOR

Deposits werden übernommen

Nun ist es amtlich: Die Royal Caribbean gehörende Luxus-Kreuzfahrtgesellschaft Silversea Cruises hat die auf die MV-Werften in Stralsund und 2021 fertiggestellte CRYSTAL ENDEAVOR (IMO 9821873) übernommen. Royal Caribbean versprach, dass Gäste, die bereits bei Crystal Cruises Reisen mit der CRYSTAL ENDEAVOR gebucht und ihre Anzahlung nicht zurückerstattet bekommen hatten, diese bei Neubuchung angerechnet zu bekommen.

Die CRYSTAL ENDEAVOR wird umbenannt in SILVER ENDEAVOR.

Damit sind die Hochseeschiffe von Crystal Cruises, die in Folge der Genting-Insolvenz selbst insolvent gegangen waren, nun aufgeteilt.

Old Deposits will be accepted

Now it’s official: The luxury cruise company Silversea Cruises, which belongs to Royal Caribbean, has taken over the CRYSTAL ENDEAVOR (IMO 9821873), which was completed in 2021 by MV shipyards in Stralsund, Germany. Royal Caribbean promised that guests who had already booked voyages on the CRYSTAL ENDEAVOR with Crystal Cruises and did not receive a refund of their deposit would have it credited to their new bookings with Silversea

The CRYSTAL ENDEAVOR is renamed the SILVER ENDEAVOR.

Silversea Cruises planen die Übernahme des Expeditions-Kreuzfahrtschiffs CRYSTAL ENDEAVOR.

Die CRYSTAL ENDEAVOR (IMO 9821873) wurde von 2018 bis 2021 bei den MV-Werften in Stralsund gebaut. Im Rahmen der Insolvenz von Crystal Cruises, ausgelöst durch die Insolvenz der Mutter-Gesellschaft Genting Hong Kong, steht das yacht-artige Kreuzfahrtschiff aktuell zum Verkauf. Es ist 164,50 Meter lang, mit einer Bruttoraumzahl von 20.449 vermessen und hat Platz für 200 Passagiere.

Silversea Cruises wollen das Schiff nach erfolgter Übernahme in SILVER ENDEAVOR umbenennen.

Silversea Cruises plan to acquire the expedition cruise ship CRYSTAL ENDEAVOR. The CRYSTAL ENDEAVOR (IMO 9821873) was built from 2018 to 2021 by MV shipyards in Stralsund, Germany. Due the insolvency of Crystal Cruises, triggered by the insolvency of the parent company Genting Hong Kong, the yacht-like cruise ship is currently for sale. It is 164.50 meters long, has a gross tonnage of 20,449 and can accommodate 200 passengers.

Crystal Cruises are going to re-name the cruise ship SILVER ENDEAVOR, once taken over.

Außergewöhnliche Taufe der SILVER ORIGIN

Die SILVER ORIGIN, luxuriöses Expeditions-Kreuzfahrtschiff von Silversea Cruises, wurde am 25. Februar 2022 während einer Zeremonie mit Expeditions-Charakter in San Cristobal, Galapagos-Inseln, getauft. Die Feier wurde mit einer Dudelsackaufführung eingeleitet. Nachdem die Gäste mehrere Zodiacs der SILVER ORIGIN bestiegen hatten, taufte die Patin Joanna Carrión, Naturschützerin und ständige Bewohnerin der Galapagosinseln, das kleine Kreuzfahrtschiff, und alle Gäste an Bord der Zodiacs stießen mit einem Glas Champagner an.

Jason Liberty, neuer Präsident und CEO der Royal Caribbean Group, war gemeinsam mit Roberto Martinoli, Präsident und CEO von Silversea Cruises, Barbara Muckermann, Chief Commercial Officer Silversea Cruises, und Fernando Delgado, Vizepräsident Silversea Cruises Ecuador, Gastgeber der Veranstaltung; Begleitet von Kapitän Karin Chacon hielt Johanna Carrión ihre erste Ansprache als Patin des Schiffes an die Gäste der SILVER ORIGIN, bevor Bischof Patricio Bonilla das Schiff segnete.

SILVER ORIGIN – Naming Ceremony

SILVER ORIGIN, Silversea Cruises‘ luxury expedition cruise ship was christened on February 25, 2022 during an expedition inspired Ceremony in San Cristobal, Galapagos Islands. The ceremony was initiated with a bagpipe performance. After the guests had boarded several of SILVER ORIGIN’s Zodiacs, godmother Joanna Carrión, conservationist and permanent resident of the Galapagos Islands, christened the small cruise ship, and all guests on board of the zodiacs raised a glass of Champagne.

Jason Liberty, new President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, co-hosted the event with Roberto Martinoli, President and CEO, Silversea Cruises; Barbara Muckermann, Chief Commercial Officer, Silversea Cruises; and Fernando Delgado, Vice President, Silversea Cruises Ecuador. Escorted by Captain Karin Chacon, Johanna Carrión made her first address to Silver Origin’s guests as the ship’s Godmother, before Bishop Patricio Bonilla blessed the vessel.

Bau der SILVER NOVA hat begonnen

Baubeginn für Silversea’s neuen Liner auf der Meyer-Werft

Bereits am 18. November wurde auf der Meyer-Werft in Papenburg der erste Stahlschnitt für die SILVER NOVA für Silversea Cruises gefeiert und damit offiziell die Bauphase begonnen. Die SILVER NOVA soll einen Hybrid-Antrieb bekommen: LNG (Flüssiggas) soll als Haupt-Treibstoff eingesetzt werden, Fuel Cells und Batterien sollen in Häfen zum Einsatz kommen, um dort emissionsfrei liegen zu können.

Die SILVER NOVA wird mit ca. 54.700 gross tons vermessen sein und für 728 Passagiere ausgelegt. Ablieferung ist für Sommer 2023 geplant.

The SILVER NOVA will be measured with approx. 54,700 gross tons and designed for 728 passengers. Delivery is planned for summer 2023.

Am 28. Juli 2021 wurde die SILVER MOON, jüngstes Kreuzfahrtschiff von Silversea Cruises, offiziell getauft. Die Tauf-Zeremonie des bereits im November 2020 abgelieferten Luxus-Kreuzfahrtschiffs fand in Piräus statt. Taufpatin war die Italienerin Gaia Gaja vom Weingut Gaja im Piemont.

Die SILVER MOON (IMO 9838618) war auf der Fincantieri-Werft in Ancona gebaut worden. Sie ist 212,80 Meter lang und bietet Platz für 1.040 Passagiere.

The SILVER MOON, the youngest Silversea cruise ship, was officially christened on July 28, 2021. The christening ceremony of the luxury cruise ship, which had already been delivered in November 2020, took place in Piraeus. Godmother was the Italian Gaia Gaja from the Gaja winery in Piemont. The SILVER MOON (IMO 9838618) was built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona. She is 212.80 meters long and has a passenger capacity of 1,040 passengers.

Auf der Fincantieri-Werft im italienischen Ancona wurde am 14. Januar 2021 die SILVER DAWN (IMO 9857937) ausgedockt und hatte damit erste Wasserberührung. Als drittes Schiff der Muse-Klasse (nach der SILVER MUSE und SILVER MOON) soll die SILVER DAWN noch 2021 abgeliefert werden. Sie wird dann das 10. Schiff der Silversea-Flotte.

SILVER DAWN launched

Third Muse-class ship touched water

On the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, Italy, the SILVER DAWN (IMO 9857937) was launched on January 14, 2021 and thus had her first contact with the water. As the third ship in the Muse class (after the SILVER MUSE and SILVER MOON), the SILVER DAWN is due to be delivered in 2021. She will then be the 10th ship in the Silversea fleet.

Auch 2020 wurden trotz der weltweiten Corona-Pandemie und der daraus resultierenden Verzögerungen diverse neue Kreuzfahrtschiffe abgeliefert. Jedoch konnte bisher noch keines dieser neuen Schiffe seinen Dienst aufnehmen – mit Ausnahme von LE JACQUES CARTIER. Hier eine Übersicht über die 2020 abgelieferten Cruise Liner.

Fincantieri hat SILVER MOON abgeliefert

SILVER MOON

Bereits Ende Oktober haben die zu Royal Caribbean Cruises gehörenden Silversea Cruises mit Sitz in Monaco ihre neue SILVER MOON (IMO 9838618) von Fincantieri übernommen. Die Übergabe fand im Rahmen einer familiären Feier auf der Fincantieri-Werft in Ancona statt.

Die SILVER MOON ist ein Schwesterschiff der 2017 in Dienst gestellten SILVER MUSE (IMO 9784350) und ist mit 40.700 gross tons vermessen. Der 212,80 Meter lange Cruise Liner hat Platz für 1.040 Passagiere bei einer Besatzungsstärke von 414. Die SILVER MOON ist ein Kreuzfahrtschiff der Luxus-Klasse. So ist beispielsweise ein Butler-Service in allen Suiten inkludiert.

Fincantieri delivered SILVER MOON

Already at the end of October, Silversea Cruises, (belonging to Royal Caribbean Cruises) based in Monaco, took over their new SILVER MOON (IMO 9838618) from Fincantieri. The handover ceremony took place at a family-like celebration at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona.

The SILVER MOON is a sister ship to the SILVER MUSE (IMO 9784350), which was delivered in 2017, and is measured at 40,700 gross tons. The 212.80 meter long cruise liner has a passenger capacity of 1,040 with a crew of 414. The SILVER MOON is a luxury class cruise ship. For example, a butler service is included in all suites.

Anfang Juni wurde mit der SILVER ORIGIN das neueste Kreuzfahrtschiff für Silversea Cruises feierlich übergeben. Das 101 Meter lange Schiff wurde speziell für Kreuzfahrten rund um die Galapagos-Inseln konzipiert.

Dabei bietet der mit 5.800 gross tons vermessene Cruise Liner Komfort auf höchstem Niveau. 51 Gäste-Suiten, alle mit eigenem Balkon, befinden sich auf dem Schiff.. Zur Ausrüstung des Cruise Liners gehören auch 8 Zodiacs und 10 Kajaks.

Basecamp – Das Basis-Lager

Desweiteren besticht das kleine Kreuzfahrtschiff durch gemütliche, helle Lounges.. Dazu gehört auch das sogenannte Basecamp, das Zentrum des Schiffs. Dort treffen sich die Passagiere für alle Zodiac-Exkursionen. Aber auch die Rezeption und der Excursion Desk befinden sich im Basecamp. Nicht zuletzt ist die interaktive LED-Wand ein Highlight dieses Bereichs. 70 Sitzplätze, davon 36 im Außenbereich, zählt die Basecamp.

Explorer’s Lounge

Die Explorer Lounge ist mit 112 Sitzplätzen der Treffpunkt für tägliche Briefings und Lesungen. Auch hier befindet sich eine LED-Leinwand. Komfortable Sitzbereiche mit mehreren LED-Screens ermöglichen allen Gästen, den Lesungen zu folgen.

Auf der Außen-Terrasse stehen weitere 29 Sitzplätze zur Verfügung.

Die Observation Lounge ist ein eleganter Rückzugsort mit 26 gemütlichen Plätzen. Bodentiefe Panorama-Fenster ermöglichen einen 180°-Blick aufs Meer. In der Observation Lounge ist auch eine kleine Bibliothek untergebracht.

Im Außenbereich gibt es eine weitere Lounge mit schattigen Plätzen und Sonnenligen an den Seiten. Heckseitig befindet sich ein Whirlpool.

Restaurants

Gespeist wird im Restaurant mit 120 Sitzplätzen. Geboten wird gehobene internationale Küche sowie authentisch regionale Speisen, zubereitet von ecuadorianischen Spitzenköchen. Bodentiefe Fenster ermöglichen auch während des Speisens den Blick aufs Meer.

Darüber hinaus steht mit dem Grill ein weiteres Restaurant mit 100 Sitzplätzen zur Verfügung. Besonderheit dort ist das Lava Stone Cooking, auch Hot Rocks Concept genannt, das an den Abenden geboten wird.

SILVER ORIGIN: Onboard Impressions

Beginning of June, the latest cruise ship for Silversea Cruises, the SILVER ORIGIN, was officially handed over. The 101 meter long ship was specially designed for cruises around the Galapagos Islands.

At 5,800 gross tons, the cruise liner offers comfort at the highest level. There are 51 guest suites, all with their own balcony, on the ship. The cruise liner also includes 8 zodiacs and 10 kayaks.

Basecamp

Furthermore, the small cruise ship captivates with cozy, bright lounges. This also includes the so-called Basecamp, the center of the ship. There the passengers are going to meet for all Zodiac excursions. The reception and the excursion desk are located in the base camp as well. Last but not least, the interactive LED wall is a highlight of this area. The Basecamp has 70 seats, including 36 outside.

Explorer’s Lounge

The Explorer Lounge with 112 seats is the hub for daily briefings and lectures. There is also an LED screen here. Comfortable seating areas with several LED screens enable all guests to follow the lectures.

A further 29 seats are available on the outdoor terrace.

Observation Lounge

The Observation Lounge is an elegant retreat with 26 cozy seats. Floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows allow a 180 ° view of the sea. There is also a small library in the Observation Lounge.

Restaurants

The restaurant has 120 seats. Fine international cuisine and authentic regional dishes are prepared by top Ecuadorian chefs. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow a view of the sea even while dining.

In addition, the grill is another restaurant with 100 seats. A specialty is the Lava Stone Cooking, also called Hot Rocks Concept, which is offered in the evenings.

In einer offiziellen Zeremonie haben Silversea Cruises dieser Tage ihr neues Schiff, die SILVER ORIGIN, übernommen. Die Übergabe fand am 5. Juni in Rotterdam unter Anwesenheit von Vertretern der Kreuzfahrtgesellschaft und der Werft statt. Damit war dies die erste nicht-virtuelle Übergabe eines Kreuzfahrtschiffs seit Beginn des Corona-bedingten Lockdowns. Bei der Zeremonie mit dabei waren u.a. Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio (Chairman), Roberto Martinoli (Präsident + CEO), Damien O’Connor (Senior Vice President Hotel Operations), Barbara Muckermann (Chief Marketing Officer) sowie Vertreter der Bauwerft De Hoop.

Derzeit liegt die SILVER ORIGIN, die speziell für Kreuzfahrten rund um die Galapagos-Inseln gebaut wurde, noch in Rotterdam. Das mit ca. 5.800 gross tons vermessene Kreuzfahrtschiff ist 101 Meter lang und hat 51 Gäste-Suiten an Bord. Alle Suiten haben einen Balkon, und ein Butler-Service gehört ebenfalls dazu.

SILVER ORIGIN delivered

In an official ceremony, Silversea Cruises recently took over their new ship, the SILVER ORIGIN. The handover took place on June 5 at Rotterdam in the presence of representatives of the cruise company and the shipyard. This was the first non-virtual handover of a cruise ship since the start of the Corona-related lockdown. The ceremony was attended by Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio (Chairman), Roberto Martinoli (President + CEO), Damien O’Connor (Senior Vice President Hotel Operations), Barbara Muckermann (Chief Marketing Officer) and representatives of the De Hoop shipyard.

Currently the SILVER ORIGIN, which was specially built for cruises around the Galapagos Islands, is still in Rotterdam. The cruise ship, which measures around 5,800 tons, is 101 meters long and has 51 guest suites on board. All suites have balconies and butler service is also included.
